Step 2 - Create SMTP Send Connector
Creating a dedicated SMTP send connector for journaling is strongly recommended. It ensures that there is a direct connection to the smart host. Also, a dedicated connector is useful in isolating journaling transport issues.
To create an SMTP Send Connector
- Select mail flow and then send connectors.
- Click the plus sign to add a new send connector.
- Enter Journaling Connector in the Name field.
- Select Custom for the Type option.
- Click Next.
- Under Network settings, select Route mail to smart host.
- Click the plus sign to add a new smart host.
- In the add smart host dialog box, enter the smart host domain name that Veritas Services & Support provided to you.
- Click save. The new send connector window displays with the new host listed in the SMART HOST section.
- Click Next.
- Select None for the Smart host authentication option.
- Click Next.
- Click the plus sign to add a new address space.
- Enter the domain that customer service has provided in the Full Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) field.
- Click save. The new send connector window displays with the domain listed in the Address space section.
- Click next.
- Click + to add mail server(s).
- Select the server from the table and then click add. Repeat this step for any additional servers.
- Click ok. The new send connector window displays the mail servers in the Source server section.
- Click finish.
- Enter the following to restart the Transport service (recommended):
Note:
Restarting the Transport Service forces the new journal messages to route through the new journaling connector immediately.
Open the Exchange Management Shell.
Enter the following command to restart services:
Restart-Service "MSExchangeTransport"
After the service is brought back online, enter the following command to verify that the service is running:
Get-Service "MSExchangeTransport"
